Ronald Chesney was a great writer of long-lasting but not forgotten television series that captured the inherent humour in everyday jobs and situations. He wrote with Ronald Wolfe.
Together the two Ronnies fixed and formulated the fun in On the Buses and The Rag Trade.
Ronald was a wonderful harmonica player who became the head of the National Harmonica League. He started playing for the soldiers during the days of ENSA. He was a talented player who could rattle off Ravel’s Bolero.
However his fleeting epitaph will last forever when you hear Ronald play the skeleton keys at a speed to challenge light as he sucked and blew, reaching notes that only exist this side of heaven, on Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Flight if the Bumblebee.
